It's been about 6 months so I figured it's time for an update to this thing!
Lots of photoshoots & events these past couple months and just as many (if not more) coming up over the next couple - I'll be adding some of the pictures to my dA Gallery over the next week or so but you can check them out now at
[link] or on Facebook at
[link] - a little over 700 new pictures since my last update (which is probably the biggest reason for not uploading them all here, one-by one

):
Since the last update I went to Anime LA for the first time - much busier than I was expecting so I ended up hanging out in the parking garage and taking photos for the majority of the weekend. I used that as a chance to experiment with some flashes and colored lighting to add effect (previously I only had the experience from trying out the idea at PMX and just got some new lighting gear in time for ALA) - I was happy with how it turned out and have really gotten into it more lately. It turned the furniture storage area portion of the garage into a cool backdrop for most of the shots:

I did make it out into the sunlight for a couple shoots:

Not long after that I did some coverage for Circus Vargas (a traveling circus that makes its way from town-to-town around California and into a couple other states throughout the year). I've been covering the show for a couple years now and it's always a fun time and great seeing everyone again each year. Some of these are up on their website:
[link] and others will be in the show program. Check it out if they come into your area!

Last month I went to Anime Conji down in San Diego. Great location for photoshoots.. but it was raining for the majority of the weekend. This is another con where it's always great seeing people I've met at other conventions over the past few years (Thank you all!) and meeting some cool new people. With the rain I was back in the garage the entire weekend -- anything from K-On and Lolita photoshoots to Black Rock Shooter and Final Fantasy were done down here. Similar to ALA, the storage area (this time a Christmas tree storage area!) worked nice for photoshoots just as long as you made sure the giant, decorated Christmas tree in the back wasn't in the frame

This weekend I met up and did a photoshoot with some local cosplayers who are always great to hang out and shoot with!
Plus it's always nice doing photoshoots outside of conventions as you have a lot more freedom with locations (no garages or crowded pooldecks!) and not as rushed with time/scheduling - it was great seeing them all again!

The 'dead fisheye' (don't get too close to those walls with your fisheye lens!) from PMX is still around for Zombie/Horror photoshoots (Zombies like to get touchy-feely with things like lenses!) but I've also got a replacement now. Still loving it, just haven't had a chance to use it as much lately (last Anime Conji was shot almost entirely with it).
Other new equipment are some softboxes - moving up from my home-made setup that I've been using for years and finally got some real softboxes for conventions/photoshoots. Loving them so far, just not fun to carry around all day!
Last bit of new equipment are some upgraded flashes. You can never have too many!

I've got another zombie/horror photoshoot coming up at the end of the month for those into the scary stuff! These are always a lot of fun to do and something I haven't done in a while now. I'm also going to try and set up some more photoshoots between conventions this year. Send me a message if you're ever up for doing one - Cosplay, Zombie/Horror, Let me know what you have in mind and hopefully we can do a shoot!
